A Different Perspective of Yerevan

A Different Perspective of Yerevan Part 1

The new year just kicked off a few weeks ago and I apologize for the delay in my blogs. My goal this year is to be more consistent in putting out new content for everyone who takes the time to read this. I wanted to start a new series on aerial photography and videography in Yerevan.

There is nothing that compares to the views you can get with a drone, and I remember the first time experiencing this going back to early 2012. During this time there was no DJI Mavic Pro or Inspire 2, and I actually built my own drone with a DJI F450 motors, and ESCs kit along with their own flight controller and GPS added to a Team Black Sheep frame. It was a first for me to solder my own electronics board, and program the electronics via computer and DJI firmware. However, nothing compares to that first successful flight with something you built on your own. During this time GoPro Hero 3 cameras were the most popular cameras to use to catch HD video so myself and others would attach this to our drones with no gimbal of course and it was a challenge to get a steady and smooth video picture, often having to balance the propellers and add gel pads or something for the camera to reduce the camera shake. It was a very tedious job, but the end result was the most rewarding. There is nothing like building something with your own hands, understanding how everything works together, and being able to troubleshoot if a problem arises.

Aerial videography I like to say is what got me back into photography, it was like adding a breath of fresh air into my soul. I was most curious with FPV (First Person View) and so I decided to purchase FatShark goggles. Something changed inside me when I was in the air flying a model airplane or quadcopter FPV, I felt free, alive, and inspired. Over the years this interest grew and fueled my everlasting passion for photography and became a new tool to capture different perspectives and angles you cannot get from being on the ground.

Below are a few photos I have recently taken in Yerevan, Armenia with my DJI Mavic Pro.
